grey morning to greet us..back in 1979 we had a bit of snowy one going with about 20 cms of snow in the Midland and Orillia areas...in 1983 gas was 45.9 cents and Gold was selling for 400 an ounce...prime at the banks was way up at 11%.

don't remember this: 1961: Enos the chimpanzee was launched from Cape Canaveral aboard the Mercury-Atlas Five spacecraft. Enos orbited earth twice before returning...we always remember Leika...but here's to ENOS! and finally History's oldest cat died on this day in 1939. His name was Puss and he was 36 years old. He attributed his long life to not smoking, not drinking, and not cattin' around.

Cloudy but nice morning this morning and about minus 4 and it's finally stopped snowing...the nhl strike is still on...The leafs were last in 1984 in 22 games with 4 wins, 15 losses and 3 ties..about the same record in 1990.
On this date in 1989 Rickey Henderson signed a record $3-million per year contract with the Oakland A's -- making him the highest priced ballpark HOT DOG ever.
On this day in 1985 Errol Bird of Northern Ireland set a world record with 26 hours of continuous yodeling. He would have yodeled even longer, but to shut him up a Kamikaze canary flew down his throat.
Canadian Paul Shaffer was born on this day in 1949. He's best known as David Letterman's band leader, and someone whose hairline not only receded, but HAS left the building...

Mornin' everybody...Lots more snow...another 10 cm or so....total must be about 1 foot 6 inches total in the last 4 days...30 yrs ago...cold drizzly day..no snow.

Good morning...as of 9am...another 5 inches of snow leading to a MEADOW-morphosis of the fields..getting close to a foot of snow on the ground over the last 3 days here at Orr Lake....it takes at least 3 coffees for my snow-blower to start.
Glad to see at least one Toronto team (argos) can win something> Good for them. A lot of people don't care anymore as the Americanization of Canada continues.
Today is Cyber Monday, traditional beginning of the online Christmas shopping season. Kind of a dull morning after 3 glorious days....Back in 1984 a couple of local ski resorts opened their ski seasons...on this date.

2...named for Earl Grey..so fans could have hot tea to keep them from freezing
3....Stanley was taken..as was the Tim Horton's Cup
4....the original trophy was a colourless jock strap
5....The Blue cup would remind people of what colour their lips might be in the cold...
Swine Time is this week in Climax, Georgia. This is a big pig show. In fact, they've invited Miss Piggy and Kevin Bacon...although Miss Piggy declined because of a PULLED HAM STRING.
it's Black Friday in the U.S....if they arrived at the mall early this morning, they may be able find a parking space by Christmas Eve....meanwhile Cyber MONDAY IS COMING UP ON TUESDAY (JUST KIDDING).

Waverley)....History's biggest drunken binge began on this day in 1922 at Port Huron, when a steamship spilled 30,000 fifths of whiskey into Lake Erie. People got pretty excited when the whiskey began washing ashore. They stashed bottles in their attics, their barns, their septic tanks..well maybe not.
the NHL was formed in 1917...WITH 5 TEAMS.. : Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Maroons, Toronto Arenas, Quebec Bulldogs, and Ottawa Senators..and in honour of that it's day 68 of the strike..They had planned to celebrate with a big birthday cake but it was CALLED BACK FOR ICING.

Nice morning with frost about -2 for the overnight low...in 1981 we had quite a storm with freezing rain, snow and wind..about 4 inches in the Midland Barrie areas and up to 1 foot in the Blue Mountain Creemore areas...it cause lots of driving problems and even CKBB went off for a few hours...MUCH the same in 1984.

THE CANADARM WAS SUCCESSFULLY TESTED IN 1981 ON THIS DATE..SIR FREDERICK BANTING WAS BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1891 AND PRINCE CHARLES THE HEIR TO THE THRONE IS 64 ALTHOUGH I THINK THE "AIR MIGHT BE COMING OUT OF THAT THRONE.

Today is 4 Term Day IN THE U.S, marking election day in 1944 when Frankin Roosevelt became the first and only person elected to a 4th term as U.S. president. President Roosevelt died only 53 days into his 4th term, and Vice-President Harry Truman assumed the Presidency.

This day in 1885 was a great day for Canada when the CPR RAIL line was completed. Before that, it took forever to take a train across Canada. And it was really bumpy.

The very first Thanksgiving celebration in North America took place in Canada when Martin Frobisher, an explorer from England, arrived in Newfoundland in 1578. He wanted to give thanks for his safe arrival to the New World. That means the first Thanksgiving in Canada was celebrated 43 years before the pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts! For a few hundred years, Thanksgiving was celebrated in either late October or early November, before it was declared a national holiday in 1879 on November 6th of that year...
Canadian James Naismith was born on this day in 1861IN ALMONTE ONTARIO. He invented basketball, thank goodness. Otherwise, Shaquille O'Neal probably would be playing hockey. Can you imagine size-22 skates?

30 years ago we had 9 inches of snow on the ground..the movie ET had been at the movies for 21 weeks, prime at the banks was 13 & 3/4 % ajnd we were singing along to "Turn on your Heartlight" by Neil Diamond. On this day in 1922 archeologists in Egypt found the tomb of King Tut. He'd been dead 3,000 years. They say he looked really relaxed. Tut was king for ten years and died when he was 19. When he would mis-behave...his mother would say......"TUT TUT now TUT!
