Two Canadian Prime Ministers were born on this date including Sir John A our first PM in 1815 and Jean Chretien who is 79 today. also born today Bobby Goldsboro and Don Cherry, the Singer not the hockey guy. Pop vocalist Don Cherry was born in Wichita Falls, TX, in 1924, and his biggest hit was Band Of Gold in 1955 which went to no. 3 on Billboard. He is also quite the golfer and captured the Canadian Amateur Championship in 1953. He has quite the volcanic temper on the golf course. Now that the hockey situation is done was settled on this date a few years ago as well. The 1994–95 NHL lockout was one that came after a year of National Hockey League (NHL) hockey that was played without a collective bargaining agreement.
