MONDAY FEBRUARY 11TH, 2013


Good day to you ...and  we start the cycle all over again...We have a bit of a walk on the Mild side with the snow melting and our 8 am temperature at 0 degrees. In 1981 we had a top temp of +8  with still a lot of snow on the ground as  a  matter of fact we had a couple of feet ...so we have a bit of a parallel 32 years apart. It Took me forever to do this Blog...I HATE CHANGING COMPUTERS!
Checking out the date: Henry the 8th had continued his cycle of carnage with Kathryn Howard getting it in the neck. She was wife number 5. Just a drop in the bucket to Henry. On this day in 1871 in Canada, the population of Ontario was 1.6 million folks and the census showed 1.2  million in Quebec. 2 years earlier Patrick James Whelan was the last person to be publically hung in Canada and people said he was "well hung" for the murder of D'Arcy McGee.
91 years ago today, Banting and Best announced their discover of Insulin in Toronto, a monumental breakthrough.


King Tut's tomb was opened and Lord Carnarvon was one of the participants in that in 1927. He was one of the so-called cursed-ones who met his death soon after. He was also the owner of "Highclere Castle" which is featured in the tremendously popular TV show "Downton Abbey".





Margaret Thatcher won the Conservative Party Leadership on this date 1975 and in March of 1979 became the first female British Prime Minister.
She was the longest-serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century, and the only woman ever to have held the post.
