In 1792 John Graves Simcoe was advertising Upper Canada Crown Lands for sale with fee scales, how to apply, and the fact that US citizens wishing to settle could get free land grants. How about that..even back then people in the U.S. paid less than Canadians.
One source says on this date in 1877, the first rules for hockey were set up such as the Ball (puck)

In 1940 Disney's Pinocchio opened in Theatres. The film involved an old wood-carver named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio who is brought to life by a blue fairy, who tells him he can become a real boy if he proves himself "brave, truthful, and unselfish".
Thus began the puppet's adventures to become a real boy, which involved many encounters with a host of unsavory characters. Of course he soon finds out telling lies makes his nose grow....plus the fact that our hero was very "high Strung" as was his dog....Ge-pet-him. The movie also won 2 academy awards including..this...
In 1964 The Beatles had just arrived in North America and were touring and in sports in 1976, Darryl Sittler scored 6 goals and had 4 assists in a game against Boston and it is still a record to this date. He also became the first Leaf to hit 100 points in a season.
