Hello again....hello...Hope you had a great week-end.  There were certainly a lot of things going on....it's fairly nice morning here at Orr Lake (little Orly did not see his shadow).  Back in 1986, we had about 16 inches on the ground.  Gas at the pump was 47.5 Cents and the Canadian dollar was just under 70 cents.  By the way the Canadian penny is going out of circulation and today is the start of it all.  A PENNY for your Thoughts will soon be worth nothing...even if you put in your TWO CENTS WORTH. So will they round up or down on values.  I have heard that Canadian Cowboys will continue to Round-up.

Summing up the week-end.  It looks like a short winter according to Wiarton Willie and our local groundhogs. The officials have also designated a new flower in honour of the Wiarton event....THE RODENT-DENDRUM.  It was pretty good weather for the local Winterfests etc...a bit of a cold wind but overall ok. 
The Superbowl in the U.S. went off  WITH  A HITCH . In fact....Fans were "in the dark" about who would win for quite a bit of the time.
ON THIS DATE: Winnipeg became a city 140 years ago. In 1901 Quebec City revived its Winter Carnival, now a permanent event. In 1880 in Lucan Ontario, James Donnelly, his wife Johannah, niece Bridget and sons Thomas and John were slain by night riders in Biddulph Township, north of London and six men were  acquitted in the 'Black Donnelly' murder case, after two trials. Members of the 'White Boys' faction likely carried out the crime, carrying into Canada an old religious feud originating in County Tipperary, Ireland.
The Toronto CN tower construction was started on this day 40 years ago. 
Charles Lindburgh was born in 1902 and made the first solo airplane flight across the Atlantic in 1927. In what was considered the Crime of the Centry his son was Kidnapped and murdered. Also born on this date Alice Cooper is 65. I hope you have a terrific celebration if today is your big day. 
and finally...The reason they always hold the Wiarton Willie Groundhog event in the morning is because officials want to have Willie looking great for the TV Camera's with no 5 OCLOCK SHADOW.
