NICE WEATHER FOR DUCKS....ducking in and out of places trying to escape the Raindrops on this Mid-week day in April.  It could have been snow and it still might be but they seem to be prognosticating a lot of rain over the next few days. We did have snow back in 89 and in 1992 we had up to 12 inches in Midland and 4 or 5" at night and overnight in Barrie.  That must have been a little hard on the Blood pressure.

Don't forget the Umbrella's today.....or Brolly or you'll be in for a soaking.
I think it was P.T. Barnum who said there is a SOAKER born every minute. We did have some very large wet flurries this morning about 10 am but no accumulation luckily. By the way Orr Lake is totally Free of Ice.

In 1932 Paul von Hindenburg was elected President of German with 19 Million votes.  Adolph Hitler came in 2nd with 13 Million votes, and in 1938 Germany annexed Austria after Austrians had voted in a referendum to merge with Germany.
In 1947, The National Wildlife Week was set up to honour Jack Miner the conservationist born in 1865.
In 1953, Warner Brothers released House of Wax with Vincent Price.  It was the first 3-D movie released by a major studio.  (3-D TV doesn't seem to be selling these days in stores but the prices are really coming down) I guess we are too used to 2-D because of "Car 54 "Where are You" with 2-D (Toody) and Muldoon.



In 1956 Nat King Cole was beaten up Onstage by 6 Anti-Blacks in Alabama and the white audience did not lift a finger to help Nat.  
In 1957, The U.S. got a sharply worded note from Lester B Person (Minister of External Affairs) saying that unless the U.S. guaranteed the Security regarding information on Canadians, none would be shared for use by anyone but the U.S. Executive. I gather this was in response to a matter we blogged about last week where a Canadian Ambassador killed himself due to harassment by a U.S. Senate committee Witch- Hunt regarding his Political Leanings.  Lester Pearson was a friend of that Ambassador.  Hooray for Lester who publicized this matter with Canadians as well. 
In 1960 The U.S. senate passed the Civil rights Bill.
In 1990 The hated GST got passage in the Commons and was off to the Senate. It came into force on January 1st, 1991 after much wrangling.  Was it the 7 % solution?

and finally....PRESIDENT OBAMA, while shooting hoops at the White House Easter Egg Hunt, missed on 20 or 22 shots.  He's now been traded to the Toronto Raptors.
