WEDNESDAY APRIL 3RD, 2013

It's Hump Day today...or for those who have garbage pick-up today....It's HUMP-DAY DUMP-DAY...or a Close Encounter of the APRIL 3rd Kind. There has been a touch of snow overnight with about a minus 7 temperature. 30 years ago we had 1 cm of snow and a high of plus 4. In case you missed it the Blue Jays lost our home opener 4-1. There were 4 crows and 1 blue Jay on the bird feeder when I looked at 11 pm last night. I did however have a winner with 3 blue spotlights on our home for Autism Awareness night, but I forgot to get a picture.

TIME FOR OUR "MAGICAL HISTORY TOUR"

We start back in 1669, with Louis the 14th ordering a permanent Militia for Canada. Think of the nice chairs they must have had.
In 1756 General Montcalm sailed to Canada from France but he failed to keep the Wolfe from the Door on the Plains of Abraham. In fact he grounded the Plains of Abraham.
In 1868, an Hawaiin surfer rode a 50 foot Tidal wave really making him THE BIG KAHUNNA.
In 1881 a Scotish Lady celebrated Easter too much when she wolfed down 12 Hot Cross Buns which led her to a Hot Cross Death.
In 1882 a Wood Block Alarm clock was invented.  When the alarm went off it dropped a pile of Wood Blocks.  You'd have to be a Blockhead to sleep through that.
1925 Britain went back to the Gold standard.
Churchill warmed Stalin of a German invasion in 1941.
In 1945 The Canadian Army freed Hengelo from the Nazi's.  There is a song by the Tragically Hip that mentions it.  It is called "At the 100th Meridian"
In 1956 Elvis Appeared on the Milton Berle show (he was on his show many  times)

In 1959 The BBC banned "Charlie Brown" by the Coasters from it's airways because of the word "Spitballs".  The ban only lasted 2 weeks.
In 1988 Lemieux stopped Gretz's scoring title wins at 7 in a row.
In 1986 The U.S. national debt hit 2 trillion. (now it's over 16 and a half Trillion dollars.  Ours is about 608 Billion on the debt clock.  Tick....tick....tick....tick....

and finally....

Father Henry was planning a wedding at the close of the morning service. After the benediction Father Henry had planned to call the couple down to be married for a brief ceremony before the congregation. For the life of him, he couldn't think of the names of those who were to be married so the father said 'Will those wanting to get married please come to the front?' Immediately; nine single ladies, three widows, four widowers, and six single men stepped to the front.

Mornin' Everybody...Mornin'
