Howdy Peeps...Here we are on another Friday morning with the Winter vs. Spring "Tug Of War" going on and it's sort of up in the air...although the 8am temp. is near zero. Back in 1988 There was lots of snow with a high of +2 and a low of -7.
 In 1995 We reached a lofty +7 and a low of -11. Gas was 50.5 cents per litre and Prime at the Banks was 9.5% certainly a lot higher than it is now. ( TD at 3%)

In 1874 the first Doggy licences were introduced in the state of New York (where the first Doggy Rub parlours were also introduced). They were introduced in Midland in 1890 as well. (But they Still don't have any DOGGY RUB PARLOURS there.
1917 was the year that Riot and Strikes in St. Petersburg (Leningrad) marked the beginning of the Russian Revolution.

BLOODY SUNDAY

In 1954 the first copies of the Penguin's single "Earth Angel" were pressed.  It went to No. 1 on the R&B chart but of course The white version done by Canada's "CREW-CUTS"  went to no. 2 (on the Pop Charts). The Crew-Cuts did quite a few covers and of course "Sha-Boom" was their biggest which went to no. 1.  They had all been members of the ST. Michael's Choir School in Toronto as had The Four Lads..... 

In 1970, Diana Ross did her first concert sans Supremes.  Miss Ross (as she likes to be called) was one of the Original Diva's apparently.
In 1971 Joe Frazier defeated Mohammed Ali At Madison Square Gardens in the "Fight of the Century"  

BIRTHDAY PEEPS...

In 1714, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, composer, was born...his dad of course was J.S. Bach and they use to try and have the odd Bach's Lunch.
The first female Mayor of Ottawa Charlotte Whitton was born is 1896 (think Hazel McCallion today).
Remember "Little Peggy March".  Today is her 65th birthday and her big song was "I will Follow You".
Mickey Dolenz of the "Monkeys" is 68 today.  (the Monkees broke up a few times over their career.  They were created to do a TV show first of course and it developed into a huge career and some of their detractors called them the PRE-FAB FOUR and a Beatles Rip-Off but apparently 
John Lennon told Mike Nesmith "I think you are the greatest comic talent since the Marx Brothers and I never missed one of your Programs. sadly Davey Jones died just over a year ago on February 29th 2012.

and finally, a couple of things to keep in mind...We spring FORWARD BY  putting the clocks ahead one hour, THIS SATURDAY NIGHT and 
I went into a Gas station this morning and asked for five dollars worth of gas. The clerk FARTED and gave me a receipt.
