FAMOUS AND INFAMOUS BORN ON THIS DATE;
On March 18, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a small cheerful boy with big blue eyes was born. He weighed only 14 ounces and was 8-3/4 inches tall. His name was Poppin’ Fresh, but he is more widely known as the Pillsbury Doughboy. he is 52 today.... Chet Noice, a freelance artist, wrote and illustrated a story about a baker who lovingly created a special batch of dough. While the dough was left to rise overnight, it came to life. He eventually sold his idea to Pillsbury. The character didn’t evolve into Poppin’ Fresh until Rudy Perz, a copywriter for the Leo Burnett ad agency, came along. While sitting in his kitchen trying to create an advertising campaign for Pillsbury, Perz kept imagining a living dough boy popping out of a Pillsbury Crescent Rolls can. He also had him Giggle when Poked in the tummy while today I guess he is Googled when poked in the tummy. In the 1970s, Poppin’ Fresh was joined by a family that included his wife Poppie Fresh (aka The Pillsbury Dough girl), son Popper, baby daughter Bun Bun, GrandPopper and GrandMommer, Uncle Rollie, Biscuit the cat, and Flapjack the dog. The family was created as 7-inch vinyl dolls that sold at Sears. And in 1972, the Doughboy was crowned “Toy of the Year.” and speaking of that Canada has it's own updated dough Boy...He makes lots of Dough on the Speaking circuit and is Canada's own TRUE DOUGH-BOY, Justin TIME FOR MOST LIBERALS.
