"Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom."
"It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with it's beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."
"I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future."
"I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done."

In 1530 the Pope refused to grant Henry the 8th his request for a divorce ( and heads rolled and continued to roll introducing not Rock and Roll but Chop and Roll)

In 1800 Hull was founded (it was first named Wrightsville and they said it would not change again unless HULL freezes over and it did so its now called Gatineau).
in 1842, Queens University was founded as the first in Ontario....by the way on the same date but in 1878 The university of Western Ontario and in Marois-ville the University of Montreal were set up as well.
The Toronto Stock Exchange was incorporated on this day in 1878 (it was set up to take peoples money if they didn't want to gamble).
In 1912 Captain Roald Amundsen announced he reached the South Pole and it left him cold.
In 1933 Monopoly was invented and came onstream and to celebrate that...in 1936 Germany violated the Treat of Versailles by occupying the Rhineland.
Roman Catholic Churches in Canada celebrated Mass in English for the first time in 1965.
In 1970 there was a "Total Eclipse of the Sun" not to be confused with Bonnie Tyler's Song....Total Eclipse of the Heart" in 1984. Our next chance to see a Solar Eclipse will be around the 3rd of November of this year but it will only be a Partial eclipse. Of course we are having a Partial Eclipse of the snow...as we can only see the other side of Orr Lake Partially this morning. It's like Pulling teeth to get this winter to end.

TODAYS BIRTHDAY PEOPLE REALLY TAKE THE CAKE;
Actress Rachel Weisz was born in London England 43 years ago...Michael Yorke in 1942, as was Tammy Faye Baker (Mascara went up to $1000.00 per pound the next day). Also born on this day Janice Guthrie (the first woman to drive in the INDY 500 in 1938, Rock's King Curtis in 1934 and Wanda Sykes is 49 today.
Many Happy returns of the day if it is yours today....
and Finally...Karin and I came up with this one...a LITTLE Person walks into a bar , looks all around and says..."I don't think you have my Beer" and the Bartender says....
" OH YE OF LITTLE FACE"....
