ITS MIDWEEK and here you are "Stuck in the middle with me" to paraphrase a "Steelers Wheel" tune from 1972 which sold over a million copies.  How are you adapting to the time change?  Spring will arrive one week from today at 7:02  and shortly before there will be an even distribution of 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night (Vernal Equinox).  There was a so-called "storm of the century" in 1993 along the East Coast of Canada and the U.S.  They love to give these things big names in the U.S.  Although I guess we have changed centuries since 93.  We didn't get very much snow but that winter was the worst for snow in about 10 years. 
It's about -4 at Orr Lake this morning and mostly cloudy at 7am.

1492 starts us off with a double decker event(s) with The Bible being Printed for the first time and Columbus sailing the Ocean Blue, both having enormous effect on the world. 

In 1784 Sir Walter Herschel discovered Uranus which has led to a lot of Jokes over time. 

A nightclub in 1894, in gay Paris, presented the first professional "striptease" which probably showed less skin than any edition of today's "TWO & 1/2 MEN". The music provided behind the "PROFESSIONAL" STRIPTEASE relied mainly on THE G-String I guess.

In the year 1927, Royal Assent was given to the Canadian Old Age Pension.

1928 Canada's first  female Aviator got her licence.  Her name was Eileen Vollick and she was from Wiarton and took Wiarton Willie on his first plane ride. (just kidding about that) but she was also was the first Canadian woman to Parachute from a plane and the first Canuck female to take off and land a plane with Skis. 

1975 was the year that country couple George Jones and Tammy Wynette went Splitsville after a stormy 7 year marriage.  (Maybe someone got the 7 year itch?).  It culminated in Tammy's massive hit "Stand By Your Man"  and then "Can't Stand My Man" (LOL)  in 1978.  She actually took on the name Tammy from the movie "Tammy and  the Batchelor". There of course was also the song D.I.V.O.R.C.E. Her songs reflected  her career actually. I only put this picture of Marilyn on to see if I could attract more Male viewers.

In 1987, The Washington Capitals scored 5 goals in 3 minutes and 3 seconds on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Of Course when it comes to bad records in the last 40 years, THE LEAFS take the cake.

Neil Sedaka is 74 today. He has written and recorded so many great songs. I think my favourite was

the Slow version of "Breaking up is hard to Do"...How about your favourite? 

There is a lot of discussion about Donald Ducks Birthdate but I'm not going to Quack up about it and am settling on this date 79 years ago. Check it out. 

In 1954, Robin Duke was born.  She was in SCTV and Saturday Night Live.

Famous Canadian writer W.O. Mitchell ("Who Has Seen the Wind, and "the Kite" etc.) was born in 1914

In 1834, Gottlieb Daimler, of Mercedes Fame was born in Germany.  The  car line was named after his daughter.  He also has been given the honour of inventing the Motorcycle by simply adding a small motor to a bicycle.

Dana Delany is 57 and William H. Macy is 63 today. You are in pretty good company if you are going to blow out some candles.  Best wishes.
