with birthdays and history and a chuckle or two...
Tis the 6th of the month as March times on...
so out of the sack...it's time to turn on.....(no not that kind silly)
30 years ago...it was a walk on the Mild Side with a High of +10 and a low of +4 and today is shaping up quite nicely according to my weather peep friends, Dan Blakely, Jill Taylor, Bob McIntyre and Willie the weather wonder.

HAPPENINGS ON THIS DATE:

In 1834 the City of York's name was changed to Toronto and a week or so later William Lyon Mackenzie became Mayor of the City of Toronto.
In 1936, Davy Crockett was killed during the fall of the Alamo as the Mexicans took the Battle. Yes he was a pretty good fighter of Bears (even when he was only 3) but not so hot at fighting the "Senor" Citizens.

In 1912 the THUESSON Grocery store became the first store to stock OREO COOKIES.  The Store was located in Hoboken, New Jersey where Frank Sinatra was born 3 years later in 1918 and his Mom Dolly must have had more than a few of those cookies because Frank weighed in at over 13 pounds at birth.  A few years later Frank sang" Hello Dolly,  where's my Oreo, Dolly....it's so nice to twist them round and take apart".
While on the subject of food, Clarence Birdseye came out with the first frozen foods in 1930 on this date.  
In 1972 John Lennon lost his temporary Visa because of a previous drug arrest and his involvement with the Left.  He Battled for 4 years and finally got resident status in 1976 to have the opportunity to get shot and killed 4 years later in December of 1980 right outside of his own home.
